Gold struts its stuff on New York's catwalksTuesday, 17th February 2004 (4751 views) New York Fashion Week has been treated to a series of elegant displays this week, with gold playing a leading role.Renowned designer and newly prominent jewellery craftsman Miguel Adrover was one of those who showed off some new lines that used the precious metal. Mr Adrover, who typically shows just one collection of clothes a year, has begun working within the precious metals jewellery medium, fashioning his first new line. Already experts have singled out a necklace of swallows handmade in gold as one of his finer pieces. Elsewhere the US fashion world embraced newcomer Sebastian Pons, who used to work with Miguel Adrover, who also drew on the lustre of the yellow metal for inspiration. Mr Pons used the theme of Spanish explorers to the New World, weaving in references to the Incas. One of his pieces, a gold crystal mesh tunic dress, showed off an unusual flair and won praise from critics.
