Gold to travel safely with new secure jewellery facility

Wednesday, 18th February 2004 (4737 views)

A joint initiative between Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai and Transguard, sees a new groundbreaking service allowing gold and jewellery traders to send and receive their valuable goods safely at the Gold Souk instead of having to go to an airport.

The service will mean previous cargo movement will be more convenient, less expensive and faster, with members of the GJGD offered the service at a special discounted rate, according to AME Info.

Launched yesterday by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group, the scheme will see gold and jewellery sent to the Goldland Building, at the heart of the Gold Souk.

Chairman of the Gold and Jewellery Group, Tawhid Abdullah told AME Info: 'Dubai boasts of an annual consumption of 150 tonnes and this pioneering initiative (at Goldland Building) is an infrastructure advancement which will help position Dubai at par with the world's most modern cities in terms of infrastructure for gold, jewellery and precious stones.'

Transguard will also be entering into an agreement with Al Ghurair Giga Gold Refinery LLC for a worldwide transportation service for gold bullion

The new joint service is set to be highly welcomed by Dubai's jewellery traders and provides them with an alternative point of collection for precious deliveries, as well as cutting the need for retailers and wholesalers alike to travel to the company's airport facility.

Other benefits of the service, highlighted by GJGD are 'faster turnaround time, increased security and reliability, cheaper cargo shipment, easy access for our members and control over each individual transaction'.
