Wisconsin jewellery show offers a range of activitiesFriday, 19th March 2004 (4439 views) The Badger Lapidary and Geological Society's 34th annual Jewelry, Mineral, Fossil and Gem Show will take place this weekend in Monroe, Wisconsin.The event will be held on March 21st and 22nd at Monroe High School and organisers predict the it will be an educational and entertaining experience for visitors and families. The show's programme features a number of lectures and debates, as well as demonstrations by a number of club members who turn rough stones into jewellery, the Monroe Times reports. Children will be given the opportunity to take part in a scavenger hunt to locate and describe minerals and a hands-on gold and gemstone panning activity, in which they get to keep their findings. Dealers will be offering minerals, fine jewellery, fossils and stones from around the world and a silent auction table will feature an array of items. The Badger Lapidary and Geological Society is a non-profit organization formed in 1965. The club aims to stimulate the interest of its members and the general public in the study of geology, palaeontology, archaeology and the lapidary arts.
