Monday, 29th March 2004 (4984 views) Gold production in India during April 2003 - February 2004 reached 9,024.822 kg.<BR/><BR/>Production far exceeded the target of 7,205.463 kg set and marked a sharp increase from the 7,589.322 kg produced during the same period last year.<BR/><BR/>Hutti Gold Mines Limited (HGML) produced 2,793.822 kg, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) 195 kg and Hindustan Aluminium Company Limited (HINDALCO) 6,036 kg.<BR/><BR/>Following the closure of Bharat Gold Mines Limited (BGML) in 2001, HGML is now the only unit processing gold from ore stage. <BR/><BR/>Public sector HCL and private sector HINDALCO process gold as a by-product while processing copper. During February, 2004, the two firms produced 824.539 kg of gold against a target of 668.465 kg.
