Friday, 16th April 2004 (4240 views) Latest data shows that jewellery and gem exports from India increased by 31 per cent in 2003-2004.<BR/><BR/>Figures from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) revealed Indian exports reached $11.9 billion in 2003 to 2004, according to India Infoline.<BR/><BR/>White gold was a strong factor in the exports with white gold jewellery contributing 68 per cent towards the total exports.<BR/><BR/>According to chairman Sanjay Kothari, the council is aiming for exports for the fiscal year ending March 31 2005 to reach $13.5 billion.
