Today sees a special event in India as people go on a shopping spree for gold.<BR/><BR/>Hindus believe that Akshay Thritiya is a special day and that even buying a small amount of gold today will make them prosperous.<BR/><BR/>In addition wherever it is that people of Tamil Nadu normally buy their jewellery, they will pick G.R. Thangamaligai (GRT) on this special occasion for their gold items.<BR/><BR/>"Akshay Thritiya is a very auspicious day for all new ventures. Buying gold, property, valuables and launching new products and projects. <BR/><BR/>"It was always a popular belief but, of late, all jewellery shops have started advertising heavily on this day and the media hype has increased awareness in the last couple of years," Ananthapadmanabhan, the managing director of GRT told Keralanext News.<BR/> <BR/>The jeweller gets so busy on this date that it even sets up an outside podium and gives out coupons.<BR/><BR/>Around 3,000 visitors a day go to the three-floor jewellery complex during festival time.
