Indian jewellers chosen to produce 'Troy' jewellery

Friday, 18th June 2004 (5511 views)

An Indian jeweller has had the chance to see its work on the big screen, being chosen to make the jewellery worn by top stars in Hollywood film Troy.

The cast, including Brad Pitt, can be seen adorned in Greek-style pieces made by Amrapali jewellers, based in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Warner Brothers' design team were impressed with a collection made for London store Selfridges by the company and so approached it to design pieces for the historic epic.

Rajeev Arora, one of the two partners who run Amrapali told Glamsham: "What was most thrilling were the compliments we got."

Among the collection are jewellery pieces dipped in gold and glass pendants, with the jewellers known for combining primeval Indian designs and modern chic.

Amrapali has also made pieces for supermodel Naomi Campbell and actress Ali McGraw and also offers filigree creations - pieces made out of hand beaten gold.
