Thursday, 24th June 2004 (5693 views) US consumers have been advised to check the sites they buy jewellery from, as the amount of people buying fine jewellery and diamonds online is booming.<BR/><BR/>According to KIDK TV around $2.8 billion worth of jewellery will be sold on the Internet this year.<BR/><BR/>The popularity of purchasing jewellery is due to a number of reasons but partly because displays of the items are getting much better so consumers can see what they really look like.<BR/><BR/>The company advises that online buyers make sure they check the jewellery site with groups such as the Jewelry Vigilance Committee and the Better Business Bureau before making purchases.<BR/><BR/>In addition consumers are being told to make sure the site has some sort of official certification from a group such as the American Gem Society or Gemological Institute.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2893448"/>
