US consumers have been advised to check the sites they buy jewellery from, as the amount of people buying fine jewellery and diamonds online is booming.<BR/><BR/>According to KIDK TV around $2.8 billion worth of jewellery will be sold on the Internet this year.<BR/><BR/>The popularity of purchasing jewellery is due to a number of reasons but partly because displays of the items are getting much better so consumers can see what they really look like.<BR/><BR/>The company advises that online buyers make sure they check the jewellery site with groups such as the Jewelry Vigilance Committee and the Better Business Bureau before making purchases.<BR/><BR/>In addition consumers are being told to make sure the site has some sort of official certification from a group such as the American Gem Society or Gemological Institute.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=2893448"/>
