Thursday, 15th July 2004 (4078 views) In the first of its kind, the Oregon Gold Miner's Jamboree is being held this weekend to celebrate the history of gold in the area.<BR/><BR/>The event will include a collection of mining-related activities such as gold panning contests, kids events and a metal-detecting treasure hunt.<BR/><BR/>In addition drawings, food and music are also on offer, according to The News Review.<BR/><BR/>Reportedly people with the relevant permits will also be able to dredge or power sluice around the area too.<BR/><BR/>The location, Myrtle Creek, is a gold bearing area and has had a history of gold production from the 1800s.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3034284"/>
