Exploration boosts second quarter results at Meridian GoldWednesday, 28th July 2004 (3277 views) Meridian Gold has released its second quarter results with positive figures for operating, exploration and expansion.The company reported a net income of $9.7 million and gold production of 82,000 ounces. In addition production at the firm's El Penon site increased 24 per cent quarter over quarter and achieved record levels in June. Brian Kennedy, Meridian Gold's president and chief executive officer commented: "We are right on track toward making this a breakout year for the company." Meridian is also planning to acquire extra exploration rights in Chile and an exploration drill programme has now begun on a new property as a joint venture between the company and Gold Fields Limited.
