Stepford Wives' ladylike look influences fashion off screen

Friday, 30th July 2004 (5004 views)

The remake of 1975 film Stepford Wives starring Nicole Kidman is helping to set a trend of femininity in women's fashion.

Ladies are not only considering more vintage and feminine clothing but are also turning towards the same style in jewellery.

Accessories perfect for completing the look are pearls, shimmering jewelled brooches, delicate bracelets and vintage necklaces.

Edinburgh-based stylist Laura Wilton told the Scotsman: "This look is going to be huge this autumn and winter and I'm glad girls can be girls again.

"Fragile-looking vintage earrings, necklaces and bracelets look great and these can be bought cheaply at Accessorize, Kookai and Miss Selfridge."

Consumers wanting to copy the look are advised to remember less is more and to add a modern touch to their 50s and ladylike chic looks.
