Russia makes gold reserve data publicWednesday, 18th August 2004 (2770 views) Russia appears to be moving towards declassifying gold reserves data this week with the release of a new list of approved metals.Whereas Russians have previously withheld such information and been rather secretive with figures, gold has now been removed from the state secrets list. It is hoped that by removing gold from the secrets list it will help boost the success of the precious metal, although there are already some unofficial websites that display data on major gold deposits. The information has been produced by a state technical commission, working for President Vladimir Putin and the Natural Resources Ministry. Rinat Gizatulin, a ministry spokesman revealed that the decision was made on August 4, but a separate decree changing the list of state secrets has not yet been signed by the President.
