Indian jeweller reveals new contemporary collection

Tuesday, 24th August 2004 (5579 views)

Indian jewellery company Tanishq has launched a new collection of 22 carat gold jewellery aimed at women.

The 'Aarka' collection is named after the Indian word for sun and designs are said to be based on the cycles of life on a solar wheel.

Harish Bhat of Tanishq commented: "Since its inception, Tanishq has strived to understand the Indian woman in all her forms and representations. This collection draws on this understanding and the creations, inspired by the sun, reflects the true nature of this contemporary woman."

Each piece in the new line is said to be a symbol of the sun's energy, movement and the passing of time.

The range was showcased at a recent fashion show and hopes to combine traditional Indian looks with a contemporary outlook, as well as aiming to bring freshness to gold jewellery.

More than 6,000 pieces are offered by Tanishq, which is India's only national jeweller.
