GFMS sees jewellery fabrication rise

Friday, 17th September 2004 (4324 views)

Global jewellery fabrication has recorded its highest first half total since 2001, according to precious metals consultancy GFMS.

GFMS has published its latest Gold Survey, which says that buoyant demand in Asia and the Middle East markets has helped bolster the figures.

The firm's research suggests that total fabrication rose by six per cent in comparison with the first half of last year.

Jewellery fabrication rose 79 tonnes, offering encouragement to precious metals analysts who identified an upturn in the sector.

They estimate that full year fabrication will see a rise of seven per cent.
