Jewellery designers are increasingly using precious metal clay (PMC) to create new pieces, with end results almost pure gold or silver.<BR/><BR/>PMC was developed in the early 1990s in Japan but is really taking off now, made with tiny flakes of precious metal, which can be rolled out and crafted into hand moulded unique pieces.<BR/><BR/>The special clay needs to air dry for about 48 hours before firing and all rough edges need to be smoothed first to create the right effect, according to the Beacon Journal.<BR/><BR/>One artist who uses the clay is Debbie Krejci who sells a collection of contemporary jewellery under the Rituals Jewellery brand.<BR/><BR/>Ms Krejci creates pendants and earrings, which often feature moons, swirls, suns and geometric shapes, with prices ranging from $15 to $99.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=3478397"/>
