Mining firm African Gold has revealed today it plans to boost its position in the field within the next three years.

The Irish precious metals explorer believes it can become "a significant gold mining entity" within the period, according to Business World.

African Gold is already performing well, with drilling in Ghana of the Konongo/Owere property performing well.

Drilling work at the site has led to a 100 per cent success rate for gold mineralisation with every hole.

It is hoped the Konongo programme will offer in excess of one million ounces of gold and African believes a mine capable of achieving 100,000 ounces of gold each year is achievable.
