Gold Fields production to increase in next quarter

Thursday, 18th November 2004 (2629 views)

Gold Fields has announced today that its production for the December 2004 quarter is set to increase by around five and six per cent compared to September.

In addition, South African operations are expected to improve by around three per cent.

Ian Cockerill, CEO of Gold Fields, said: " The performance from our South African operations has been excellent. We are now benefiting from the positive effects of the strategic repositioning of our high quality South African assets over the past year.

"The commitment of our people to our revenue enhancement and cost management initiatives are bearing fruit, and we will continue to deliver value to our shareholders."

Other figures suggest that group margins are also expected to grow by between 20 to 23 per cent.

The company claims predicted improvements are thought to be due to cost reduction projects and the flow-through of benefits from sustainable revenue enhancement.
