Australian gold production on the increaseMonday, 22nd November 2004 (2588 views) New findings from Surbiton Associates in Australia has revealed that gold production is on the rise, as mining recovered during the September quarter, following reduced efforts caused by rain earlier in the year.In addition, first production at Newcrest's Telfer project in Western Australia also helped boost figures, along with the Cracow joint venture with Newcrest and Sedminentary Holdings. Total output for the September quarter was 66.3 tonnes of gold, a five per cent increase compared to figures in June 2004. Surbiton managing director Sandra Close told The Age: "Gold output should really kick along early next year after a number of redeveloped projects come into production." Other projects that performed well were the Super Pit at Kalgoorlie, owned by Newmont Mining and Barrick Gold and the Granny Smith operation owned by Placer Dome.
