Bangkok consumers prefer gold jewellery for gifts

Gold jewellery is becoming an increasingly popular present for people in Bangkok, according to a new survey conducted this week.<br/><br/>The Bangkok Poll looked at 1,164 adults and found that gold jewellery was the third most popular present to receive during the New Year period, beating money and fruit.<br/><br/>According to MCOT, there is a big difference between what presents people wanted to get and what they were going to give to others.<br/><br/>Each year Bangkok holds a Gem and Jewellery Fair, which has now been running for 34 years and this year, saw over 1,000 people taking part.<br/><br/>This year Bangkok tried to make the event more international and saw more diversity and organisation, with a special section dedicated to gold.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7343936"/>
