Finalists picked for jewellery awardsWednesday, 22nd December 2004 (4825 views) A collection of jewellery designers, goldsmiths and students have come together to take part in the HRD Awards - a biennial jewellery contest that is designed to help young designers.According to Diamonds.net, 490 artists took part in the competition, providing 850 designs for a professional jury. The competition in Brussels allows jewellery companies to sponsor some of the selected designs, with entries firstly cut down to 48 finalists. This year's theme was 'FUN' and artists as usual were allowed free rein over their pieces, with a key aim of the event to boost creativity and design excellence in contemporary jewellery. Finalists come from a range of countries, including China, India and France and are competing for 5,000. Finished pieces have to be submitted by March 25 next year, with items judged on craftsmanship, innovation and enthusiasm.
