Charlotte Church may be back in the bad books with her family again, as she has announced that she is leaving them at New Year to have private celebrations with her latest boyfriend.

The 18-year-old singer wants to spend time with her hotel worker boyfriend Kyle Johnson to celebrate the New Year and his 20th birthday, perhaps swayed by the extravagant Christmas present she received.

According to the Mirror, Ms Church was given a gold and diamond necklace from her new love during the festive period.

The star's mum Maria claimed: "'I think Charlotte would rather stay in Cardiff, but they've arranged it now."

She added: "It's a beautiful gold necklace with diamonds. She loved it."

Although the cost of the jewellery is not known, reports suggest that Mr Johnson has been specially working extra hours at Maria's pub, as well as his hotel job, to help purchase the golden gift.
