Asda rolls back the price of jewellery

Monday, 31st January 2005 (6251 views)

UK shoppers will soon be able to pick up gold jewellery alongside their weekly shop with new plans revealed by Asda today.

The food retailer has announced it is going to set up new jewellery centres in store as part of new services on offer, including optical and photo centres.

Around 400 new jobs will be created with the opening of jewellery departments in 30 Asda branches across the country.

Tony Page, Asda's non-food director, said: "Thanks to every day high street-beating prices customers love to pick up carats with their carrots…before they reach the check-out.

"With this roll-out more people than ever before can now take advantage of fantastic prices for jewellery."

The expansion programme is not set to take place until later on in 2005.
