Canadian football star on hunt for ring

Wednesday, 16th February 2005 (3729 views)

An ex member of Canada's Edmonton Eskimos football club is trying to track down his old team ring.

The ten carat, gold and diamond studded ring was sold to a pawnshop in November by Bryon Capers, but he claims he made it clear he wanted to get it back.

"I told that pawn guy, I'm not selling this ring. It means a lot to me. I mean to get it back," he explained.

The ring, which is an official Edmonton Eskimos Grey Cup team ring, is now up for bids on internet auction site eBay.

Mr Capers moves around a lot and claims that he put the ring in a pawnshop in Ottawa a number of times as he was worried it would get mislaid during one of his moves.

The ring, valued at $10,000 has allegedly been sold to an eBay user who is now trying to re-sell it on for $6,600,

In Canada Grey Cup rings are one of the most sought after CFL souvenirs.

Mr Capers is now consulting a lawyer about his options.
