Bangalore predicts gold festival will be a success

A host of jewellers are set to take part in this year's Karnataka Gold Festival 2005 in Bangalore.<br/><br/>The event is being organised for the first time in all districts simultaneously in order to be in line with the upcoming Ugadi festival, Akshaya Thritiya and the wedding season, according to the Deccan Herald.<br/> <br/>Around one hundred jewellers are expected to take part in the event, which last year saw a 20 to 25 per cent rise in gold and jewellery sales and was attended by 40 leading jewellers.<br/><br/>The festival will run from April 4th until May 25th and is organised by Art of Jewellery magazine and the World Gold Council (WGC).<br/><br/>WGC vice-president, K Shivram, explained that a prize of one kilogram of gold would be on offer at the festival, along with 240 other prizes.<br/><br/>A number of jewellers have confirmed their participation and more jewellers are still being contacted.<img src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=7829656"/>
