Fraser production to continue as normal

Friday, 18th February 2005 (3199 views)

Gold production at the Frasers gold mine at Macraes is to continue as normal, Oceana Gold has revealed today.

The mining firm claimed that its gold production at the open cut mine have not been affected by the placement of Australian mining contractor Henry Walker Elton Group (HWE) into voluntary administration.

Originally HWE was under contract to conduct development work at the mine, according to NZPA.

However, Oceana has explained that the firm was only going to build underground ramp access and this was not scheduled until 2007, so work will be unaffected.

The mine is situated inland from Palmerston in Otago, New Zealand.
