New jewellery and entertainments centre for MalaysiaMonday, 28th February 2005 (4859 views) A new retail and entertainment centre is to open in Bandar Hilir in Malacca, Malaysia.The Dataran Pahlawan Melaka will be officially launched this Saturday in the historical area, covering an area of 19 acres. It is hoped the site will work as a meeting point for both locals and foreign tourists, offering local cuisines, dancing and handicrafts, according to the Star online. A Gold Trade Centre is also being planned and will be located at one end of the site, whilst food and drink areas will be at the other end. The gold area would contain a number of jewellery shops as well as other entertainment facilities. Lianbang Ventures marketing director Derek Lew, explained: "At present the shopping and entertainment places are spread all over the place and foreign tourists do not know where to go. "We are very excited as this land has been there for a very long time. Everyone knows it's a landmark but no one knows what's coming up until now."
