Wednesday, 16th March 2005 (2780 views)

Cairo's Egyptian Museum displayed a gold jewellery collection from the Dush Temple this week, in its first appearance since its discovery 16 years ago.

The gold items were discovered by French archaeologists and date back to the Greco-Roman period, according to SAPA.

Items include a golden crown with an image of the god Serapis on the front and a 493-gram necklace shaped like a snake and decorated with gold coins.

In addition, there are two gold bracelets and one bracelet featuring an orange agate medallion on a gold leaf-shaped band.

The large jar, which helped to protect the treasure, is also on display in the collection.

Photographs of the actual excavation are also on display, so visitors can see exactly how the gold items were found and removed.track
