Tuesday, 22nd March 2005 (4244 views) South Africa's Rand Refinery has received accreditation for its work through a new standard set up by the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC).<br/><br/>The Dubai Good Delivery Standard was set up a month ago and Rand Refinery is the first firm to receive certification through it.<br/><br/>Rand is the world's biggest single-site gold refining complex and the first set of one hundred kilos of gold bars from the company arrived in Dubai yesterday for trade and distribution.<br/><br/>It is hoped firms will have trading boosted by the certification and DMCC is looking to encourage international standards for the gold industry.<br/><br/>Commenting on the acceptance by DMCC, Johan Botha, head of global markets for Rand Refinery, told AME Info: "Rand Refinery is an integrated precious metals management company that has built its reputation on quality, reliability and integrity. <br/><br/>"The creation of the Dubai Good Delivery Standard offers a much-needed standard for trade in the region. We strongly believe that this certification will strengthen our market positioning and boost our efforts to enter new and competitive markets."<br/><br/>Mr Botha claimed the company hoped to have kilo bars traded and delivered on the exchange during the second half of this year.<br/><br/>Qualifying criteria for the standard covers acceptable weight, appearance, fineness and marks.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8092397"/>
