If luxurious baby showers and designer clothing wasn't enough, American consumers are now looking to purchase baby bling.

Jewellers in the US are creating a range of jewellery especially for babies, which are miniature versions of the real thing, according to IDEX Online.

BabyGund is particularly cashing on this trend, making necklaces, earrings and bracelets for babies that sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

A key feature of the brand is a bear head, the company's logo, which can be found on most of the pieces, such as the miniature gold signet ring for babies selling for $225.

The David Yurman Cable Kids collection is also popular, made from silver and 18 carat gold.

Items include spoons, bracelets, rings and rattles.
