Kiewit drilling reveals high grade gold

Friday, 29th April 2005 (3151 views)

Clifton Mining and its joint venture partner Dumont Nickel have uncovered a number of gold findings in its recent drilling of the Kiewit Gold Zone.

Holes were drilled in a 500-metre by 500-metre area in the zone's southern quarter, with the average grade higher than initial samplings.

According to findings there is a higher-grade core at 1.1-1.9 grams per tonne, which is then surrounded by a lower-grade area of 0.2 to 0.7 grams per tonne.

Surface sampling conducted by Dumont has also shown trace elements that suggest there could be a number of gold-bearing layers.

Current estimates have been based on just one gold-bearing layer and if there were more than one layer it would increase gold mineralisation in the system significantly.

So far ten drill hole results have been released for the site and the firm hopes deep core drill holes will be used to test for other layers by the end of the summer.track
