Rajesh Exports to enter branded gold jewellery sector

India's largest gold jewellery exporter is planning to expand into the branded jewellery sector, with designs incorporating gold and diamonds.<br/><br/>Both domestic and international brands are expected to be launched over the next two years, with a chain of stores within India involving an investment of 4.5 billion rupees.<br/><br/>Within five years, the company is hoping to emerge as one of the largest global retail chains for gold and diamond jewellery.<br/><br/>"We are gearing up to get into the designer jewellery segment with the launch of separate brands for the domestic and international markets," Rajesh Exports chairman Rajesh Mehta told the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS).<br/><br/>"We also plan to shift from volume-based low bottom line trade in which we are the largest player in India to tap the high bottom line retailing segment with our designer gold and diamond jewellery and unbranded volume jewellery."<br/><br/>Rajesh Exports currently imports around 60 tonnes of gold each year, then re-exporting 80 per cent of this as machine and handcrafted products to the US, UK, Middle East and Singapore.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8570756"/>
