Tuesday, 31st May 2005 (4076 views) A team of Iranian archaeologists has discovered ancient jewellery next to a skeleton buried in the Lafurak cemetery in the Mazandaran Province.<br/><br/>The Iron Age cemetery has only recently been discovered, but one skeleton has been unearthed wearing a gold earring on one ear and a silver one on another.<br/><br/>According to archaeologist Mehdi Abedini, the earrings suggest that when alive the person was a prominent person in society.<br/><br/>Previously only bronze and iron earrings were found at the site.<br/><br/>Excavations will now continue at the site, although work will need to be quick since the area and other villages are set to be destroyed by a new operational reservoir.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=8634081"/>
