Gold hunt begins in Wales

Tuesday, 21st June 2005 (2900 views)

Anglesey Mining has announced it has begun its search for gold and other metals on Parys Mountain in Anglesey, Wales.

Exploration has now begun at the site, following the raising of funds by Anglesey to finance the work, according to the Western Mail.

Current exploration and drilling is looking to ascertain gold grades in the northern copper-rich zone.

So far 148 metres have been drilled and an early feasibility study has suggested around 175kg of gold could be extracted each year.

At present Anglesey has planning permission for a mine from which 1,000 tonnes of gold could be extracted per day.track
