Chinese create largest golden BuddhaTuesday, 28th June 2005 (3361 views) The largest open-air Buddha in China is being created by college students, according to XinhuanetMeasuring 20.6 metres tall, the Buddha statue will be plated with a layer of 12-nanometer pure gold and will be based on a four metre high foundation. It is thought the statue will cost around four million yuan to build. Students from the Chongqing Buddhism College will create the piece, which will be displayed in October. Around 100 students attend the college, which is one of the state key Buddhism colleges.
