An innovative liqueur made from kiwifruit and containing flecks of real gold, has received an international award.<br/><br/>The drink made in a distillery in Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, has shavings of 23-carat gold leaf in it.<br/><br/>Creators Irmengard, Michael and Tobi Deinlein were presented with a silver medal for the product at the International Spirit Awards.<br/><br/>Only 30,000 half-litre bottles of the liqueur are produced each year by the small company.<br/><br/>The gold was originally added to the drink as "a bit of a marketing ploy" since consuming gold is said to hold health benefits.<img alt="track" src="http://directnews.dehavilland.co.uk/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=16049647"/>
