First gold bar poured from Costa Rica Bellavista Mine

Thursday, 30th June 2005 (3242 views)

The first gold bar produced by the Bellavista Mine in Costa Rica has been poured.

Glencairn Gold, which owns the mine, located in the Montes de Oro region approximately 120 kilometres west of the capital San Jose, made the announcement.

"This initial gold pour is an important milestone for the Bellavista Mine," said chief operating officer Kevin Drover.

"Mine commissioning is advancing as expected. We continue to optimise processes and I'm confident we'll reach our next objective, commercial production, later this year."

Approximately 200,000 tonnes of gold ore has been stacked on leach pads since the commencement of mining in April 2005, according to Glencairn Gold.

Once Bellavista is in commercial production, the company expects the total annual gold production to exceed 100,000 ounces.track
