Wednesday, 27th July 2005 (4346 views) Randgold Resources has revealed that it expects to start producing gold at its Loulo mine in Mali by September.<br/><br/>The African company said there had been a two month delay to plans as a result of problems with equipment supplies.<br/><br/>Fousseyni Diakite, exploration manager at Randgold's Malian unit, told Reuters that the $80 million mine project is expected to produce 200,000 ounces a year over a period of six years.<br/><br/>He added that the company is examining whether it is possible to expand the mine underground, extending the life of the project by as much as 20 years.<br/><br/>"The first ingot will be produced in September at the latest and the official inauguration of the mine is expected in November," he explained.<img alt="track" src="http://feeds.directnews.org.uk/feedtrack/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=14014551"/>
