Raksha Bandhan falls on August 19th this year and jewellers India-wide have seen a corresponding rush for the latest gold rakhis.<br/><br/>Rakhis is a wristband that can be made of many substances including sandalwood, thread, flowers and gold.<br/><br/>It is traditional for sisters to fix a rakhis around their brothers' wrists and pray for their continued happiness and good fortune.<br/><br/>Commenting on his shop's diamond studded and gold coin rakhis, Mukesh Yadav, sales officer of a well-known jewellers, told the Times of India that "the demand for them is phenomenal and no less than eight to ten such rakhis are being bought by people everyday".<br/><br/>Another jewellery shop owner in Dariba Kalan in Delhi, Mohit Jain, said gold and silver rakhis were very popular "even though they are priced up to Rs7,000".<br/><br/>Today Indians do not only offer rakhis to their brothers but also to female friends and anyone they consider as a sister or brother.<br/><br/><br/><img alt="track" src='http://feeds.directnews.org.uk/feedtrack/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=15026795'/>© Adfero Ltd
