Friday, 19th August 2005 (4079 views) The first hole of summer has been drilled at Anglesey Mining's Parys Mountain deposit in north Wales.<br/><br/>Parys Mountain is located on the island of Anglesey in Wales and drilling is taking place for polymetallic zinc, copper, lead and silver in addition to gold.<br/><br/>Anglesey Mining hopes to uncover extensive sulphur mineralization and was successful when the first drilling hole reached the targeted Engine zone at 563 metres to intersect both high and low grade sulphides.<br/><br/>Wales is not well known for its gold deposits; nevertheless Anglesey Mining has detected a probable 0.79 g/t of gold in the Engine zone.<br/><br/>The company is also permitted to mine for gold and silver at Pumpsaint, South Wales over an 11,000 acre area and according to their website the site has the "potential for a small gold mining operation which would attract the premium for Welsh gold".<br/><br/>Pumpsaint is located near to Dolaucothi Gold Mine, the only known Roman gold mine in Britain that is owned by the National Trust.<br/><br/><br/><img alt="track" src='http://feeds.directnews.org.uk/feedtrack/dn.gif?feedid=196&itemid=15026793'/>© Adfero Ltd
