A magnetic scan through an ancient Chinese emperor's tomb claims to have found a large number of gold coins.

The coins would date back to the years 221 to 210 BC, which was when Emperor Qin ruled China.

His tomb is located in the ancient Chinese capital of Xian, underneath a burial mount.

However, some believe that any excavation attempts must be extremely cautious.

The BBC has reported that the president of the International Council on Monuments and Sites, Michael Petzet, said the coins are very fragile and there is a risk of their being damaged.

He believes the archaeologists should first find out how they will protect the coins before any attempt is made to dig them up.
