Tuesday, 25th October 2005 (4386 views) Tourists and vacationers in Colorado can now experience the state's gold prospecting heritage by doing some panning of their own.Gary Hawley and Jeff Mosteller of Gold Prospectors of the Rockies are promoting the state's heritage through their travel company that takes visitors panning for gold and teaches them the tricks of the trade as well as the history behind the practice. Along with the panning, the tours go through some of Colorado's most beautiful areas and stop at some of the 'ghost towns' that were abandoned after the gold rush. Both men will extol the pleasure of hunting for gold. Mr Mosteller said that from the first moment he held gold in his hands the feeling has never gone away. Mr Hawley told Longmont FYI: "There's nothing better than sitting there with your feet in the water and a pan and not thinking about work. It’s a hobby to relieve your mind and exercise your body."
