Umicore reports strong performanceThursday, 27th October 2005 (3019 views) Speciality metals group Umicore has announced its third quarter results, which record a strong performance in the electroplating and precious metals businesses.Year-on-year revenue for this quarter was up by eight per cent within the company's precious metals products and catalysts business. Its precious metals services revenue was also up by 21 per cent, representing a continuation of its excellent first-half performance. A solid performance was also seen in Umicore's jewellery and industrial metals section, with strong sales of white gold and platinum alloys reported. The company stated that its electroplating business continued to make inroads into the key Asian electronics market. If the current trends continue during the remainder of the year, Umicore anticipates that its full year recurring EBIT, profits before tax and interest, will be close to its upper estimate of €235 million.
