Precious white metals to feature at eventFriday, 18th November 2005 (3990 views) This year's Carnegie Gem and Mineral Show will show a penchant for white precious metals, such as silver and white gold.According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, one of the highlights is tipped to be the Showcase Suite, featuring a curator's wish list just in time for Christmas. Within this room will be jewellery items that Carnegie's Hillman Hall of Minerals and Gems would like to acquire if enough funds could be raised from sponsors. This coincides with the museum's 25th anniversary. Several new exhibitors will be joining the proceedings such as Denayer Art Jewellery from Ireland, which produces several experimental pieces in 24-carat gold and silver. Throughout the weekend, $20,000 of sterling silver items will be raffled off and one lucky visitor stands to win a diamond necklace.
