Friday, 25th November 2005 (5974 views) Guests at the wedding of Rihen Harshad Mehta this Sunday are unlikely to discard their wedding invitations in a hurry as each one is bedecked with gold and diamonds and worth Rs 2,000.It looks like the Indian wedding season is going to end with a bang as Mr Mehta the son of a partner at jewellery giant Intergold ties the knot with his childhood sweetheart. To matching the lavish ceremony, each invite has been embedded with a gold pendant and a diamond, according to Mid Day. With 3,000 sent out in total, more than Rs 6,000 million will have been spent before the ceremony has even begun. The wedding has really got tongues wagging in India the world's biggest gold importer. Top Bollywood stars including Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji are rumoured to be performing at the wedding itself. Despite remaining tight-lipped on the event, the family admitted that it would today host a pre-wedding musical ceremony organised by Bollywood's Morani Brothers. It's about the time of year when the Indian gold market goes pop, however. The wedding season is all but over and some jewellery shops have reportedly been left with unsold stockpiles as a result of the yellow metal's current high price.
