Brazilian jewellers rewarded in BahrainThe news feeds on this site are independently provided by Adfero Limited © and do not represent the views or opinions of the World Gold Council. Friday, 25th November 2005 (5593 views) The long trek that hundreds of indigenous jewellers have made to reach the annual Jewellery Arabia Exhibition in Bahrain has not been in vein. The country's prime minister opened the five-day event on Wednesday (November 23rd) and it appears the glitzy extravaganza is already bearing fruit for a number of international exhibitors. Brazilian earrings specialist Fiamma for one claims to be doing a roaring trade at the show which has attracted 500 exhibitors from 28 countries selling 100 pieces in two days. Fiamma told the Brazil-Arab News Agency that the organisers' decision to let in only women yesterday has only heightened its success. According to a Fiamma spokesman, Arabic women have been drawn to his company's rings, crafted with yellow and white gold, Brazilian stones and diamonds. 'Arab women are very attuned to fashion. They like looking at the jewels' design and they bargain a lot too,' commented Calais. The glamorous exhibition is one of the largest jewellery shows in the region, boasting over twice as many jewellers as Saudi Arabia's MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show, held earlier this month.
