Amazon unveils gold earrings among top sellers

Wednesday, 30th November 2005 (4425 views)

Online retail goliath Amazon gave a fascinating glimpse into mass retail jewellery trends as it revealed its top selling products for the holiday season so far.

Commentators have been suggesting for months that yellow gold is making a strong comeback at the higher end of the jewellery market.

But Amazon's figures indicated that the yellow metal is also enjoying a surge in popularity at the entry-level.

Amazon's 14-carat yellow gold hooped earrings have been among the retailer's three best-selling items in the run up to December, as consumers flocked to be part of yellow gold's resurgence.

A fancy freshwater pearl cultured necklace and a scintillating sterling silver inspirational bracelet completed the trio of best-selling trinkets.

Each of the three items retail for between $25 and $35.

While the hooped earrings may not catch the eye of the Tiffany's crowd, the strong sales figures demonstrate the strength of the gold jewellery retail market as we approach the Christmas rush.
