Friday, 23rd December 2005 (6173 views) A Swiss firm has made a gold watch honouring Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the former president of the UAE, according to Trade Arabia.Montres Appella said that it had made 86 copies of the time piece, which is only available for pre-selected individuals or VVIPs. It said that each watch represented a year in the life of the leader. The watch face is ringed by 71 diamonds and includes a picture of Shaikh Zayed, whilst his image is also engraved into the back. Each watch has been a certificate of approval by the Swiss Office for Precious Metal Control. "The exclusive watches have been designed keeping in mind the sentimental and emotional reason behind its creation and bears an aesthetic elegance that sets it apart as a timeless product," said Appella International chairman A S Jamal. He added: "Part of the proceeds from the sale of this collection will be donated to the Al Noor Foundation as a humanitarian contribution towards a noble cause, reflective of the company's mission to share and care with the society". Montres Appella is based in Geneva and distributed watches to over 35 countries.
