Australian gold firm reports "encouraging" gold findThursday, 19th January 2006 (3411 views) Republic Gold has reported promising exploration results to the Australian Stock Exchange, ABC news reports. The gold exploration company has been drilling several sites on its prospect near the Mitchell River in north Queensland. Drilling has ceased briefly due to the wet season, but exploration director Chris Roberts said it would resume when conditions improved, with the company optimistic about the results. "We'll be back in there as soon as we can at the end of the wet in the new field season to put some more drill holes into it and see if we can put a resource to that, so we think it's significant," he told ABC news. Mr Roberts explained that drilling had been taking place on a geographical fault line around four kilometres from previous drill sites. Last week, Republic Gold reported that it had discovered six areas of significant tungsten anomalism within its prospects in the Hodgkinson basin of north Queensland.
