Thursday, 19th January 2006 (5775 views) Yellow gold jewellery will be hot in 2006, according to the first reports from this week's Vicenza 2006 jewellery extravaganza, IDEX Online reports. As the first event of the show season, VicenzaOro offers a glimpse into what will make it onto jewellers' shelves in the coming season. More than 1,600 exhibitors are showcasing their designs and the return of yellow gold has been tipped as one of this season's biggest trends. Chunky gold necklaces will prove particularly popular in 2006, if exhibitors' stalls are anything to go by. Gold pieces featuring pastel stones will also be a hit. Besides embracing gold, top jewellery designers are also incorporating Slavic motifs and Russian military insignia into their designs to cater for the booming Russian jewellery market. Onlookers also observed a massive shift in colour choices, with vibrant colours shunned for the first time in several years in favour of pastel blues and pinks. In the world of diamonds, marquise, oval and pear cuts will prove popular. Italy is the world's top producer of jewellery with a 30 per cent slice of the market.
