Speciality metals group Umicore has strengthened its position in the Chinese brazing materials market.

On Monday (January 23), the Brussels-listed outfit snapped up Zhenjang Huanyu Xingchen Welding Materials in an €11 million investment.

The purchase will help Umicore serve the fast-growing Chinese brazing alloys market, including gold-based alloys, bolstering its existing BrazeTec business unit.

Analysts have welcomed the acquisition, as it strengthens Belgium-based Umicore's presence in a fast growing sector of the market.
